After Green Day Bashes Trump Fans – Elon Musk Unloads 1 Brutal Word in Reply

Once upon a time, Green Day was one of the biggest rock bands on the planet. They were beloved by millions for their anti-establishment lyrics and driving rhythms.

But it’s been a long time since the band has released any hits. It seems they have been relegated to appearing once a year, at New Year’s.

The aging band performed one of their old hits. But they changed a line to insult millions of Americans. And Elon Musk was on hand to humiliate them.

From The Post Millennial:
Following Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong changing the lyrics to one of the band’s hits, American Idiot, to target Donald Trump and his millions of supporters during ABC’s annual Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, X owner Elon Musk criticized the band for “raging for” the “machine.”

“Green Day goes from raging against the machine to milquetoastedly raging for it,” Musk wrote on X, accompanied by laughing emojis.

During the performance of their song “American Idiot,” Armstrong changed “I’m not a part of the redneck agenda” to “I’m not part of the MAGA agenda.” He did this during the band’s performance on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve—a show watched by millions of Americans.

The weak stab at Trump supporters did not go unnoticed by Elon Musk. He took to X to mock the aging punk rockers’ attempt to bash Trump and his many supporters. Musk mocked Armstrong, who once represented teenage angst and opposition to the “machine.”

Musk said that now Armstrong is “milquetoastedly raging” for the machine.

Green Day released their massive hit album “American Idiot” over twenty years ago. At the time they received critical acclaim for criticizing the Bush administration. But over the ensuing years, the band (and many others like them) have lost their “rebel” cred for supporting the likes of Obama and Biden.

Instead of standing up for any kind of values or principles, it appears bands like Green Day will wholeheartedly support a corrupt establishment—so long as it’s not Republican.

Key Takeaways:

  • Elon Musk mocked Green Day after the band insulted Trump supporters.
  • This came after the band changed the lyrics to its old song to mock MAGA voters.
  • Musk said Armstrong is “milquetoastedly” raging for the establishment.
