After 70 Sheriffs Defy Democrat Governor – A Mountain of Lawsuits Drop on Pritzker’s AR-15 Ban

What’s Happening:

Americans were shocked when the leftist Governor of Illinois passed a law banning the most common semi-automatic rifle in the country. Democrat Gov. Pritzker signed a law outlawing a variety of firearms owned by millions of law-abiding citizens. Very quickly, though, Americans fought back.

Over 70 Illinois sheriffs announced they would not be enforcing the left-wing law. That provoked outrage from the left, but that’s only the beginning. Pritzker’s new law might not last very long, after an avalanche was triggered.

From Just the News:

With one ruling against Illinois’ gun ban on the books, more action in the courts is expected in the days and weeks ahead.

Attorney Thomas DeVore on Friday celebrated a temporary restraining order from an Effingham County court against the state enforcing the gun ban on his 860-plus clients…

There are other pending cases. One state-level case is in Crawford County. That awaits a judge assignment. A federal case in the Southern District of Illinois has yet to schedule a hearing.

A mountain of lawsuits is hitting Illinois on the county level after the governor signed a law banning common rifles. The governor also outlawed a number of magazines, a common tactic by Democrats to restrict Americans’ rights.

A county court has already placed a temporary restraining order on the state law. And several more lawsuits are moving through other counties. It won’t be long before this hits state courts and perhaps the highest court in Illinois.

What happens if the battle rages beyond that? Given the constitutional nature of this new law, this case might be taken all the way to the Supreme Court. And recent history is not on Pritzker’s side. The Supreme Court recently struck down a long-standing New York State law, restricting Americans’ Second Amendment rights.

What will happen if this Illinois law reaches the court? We can’t predict the future, but it is likely this ban won’t last very long. State attempts to limit the Second Amendment have been failing constantly in recent months and years. A major law banning rifles and magazines might be seen as a gross attack on our rights.

Not that Democrats will ever stop trying to rob us of our rights.

Key Takeaways:

  • Numerous lawsuits have been filed against Illinois’ recent AR-15 ban.
  • The law bans common rifles and magazines, but it is facing strong backlash.
  • Already more than 70 sheriffs have vowed not to enforce the law.
