Biden Blindsided by Sudden GOP Move – They’re Demanding Hidden Evidence Immediately

House Republicans are stepping up the heat in their investigation into Joe Biden and his potentially illegal activities while in office. GOP leaders pushing the impeachment inquiry into the president are not giving up in finding specific answers about Biden’s actions.

At the core of their recent digging is the president’s alleged mishandling of classified documents that was reviewed by Special Counsel Robert Hur. His determination in the investigation was the president wouldn’t likely be convicted because he is a “sympathetic, well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory.” Hur never presented any evidence before a grand jury.

That assessment spurred Republicans to issue subpoenas to release details of Hur’s investigation. They want to know Biden’s real mental state, and they’re pressuring the Department of Justice to fork over the details.

From Fox News:
Republicans leading the impeachment inquiry … requested the materials related to Biden’s October 2023 interview be turned over to Congress earlier this month and set a deadline of Feb. 19. That deadline was not met, but the Justice Department said it was “working to gather and process” responsive documents.

The subpoena, reviewed by Fox News Digital, compels the Justice Department to produce all documents and communications, including audio and video recordings, related to Hur’s interview of Biden.

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan and House Ways & Means Committee Chair Jason Smith want all the details. They aren’t happy with the DOJ delay, which is par for the course with the Biden-controlled agency ruled by U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland.

The list of items Republicans want to review is extensive. The demand includes all documents and communications, including audio and video recordings, related to Hur’s interview of the ghost writer of Biden’s memoir, Mark Zwonitzer; documents identified as “A9” and “A10″ in the Appendix A of Hur’s report, which relate to then-Vice President Joe Biden’s Dec. 11, 2015 call with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk; and all communications between or among representatives of the Department of Justice, including the Office of Special Counsel, the Executive Office of the President, and President Biden’s personal counsel referring or relating to Hur’s report.

Republicans have claimed they have congressional authority to receive all items requested as part of their oversight duties. The Judiciary Committee state that the materials are also needed to assess the DOJ “commitment to impartial justice and its handling of the investigation and prosecution of President Biden’s presumptive opponent, President Donald J. Trump, in the November 2024 presidential election,”

The DOJ responded to the subpoena with delays and reasoning that some of the requested materials “require review for classification and protection of national defense information.” This dodging of oversight is a Merrick Garland standard move to rebuff Congress and protect Biden.

Biden’s alleged mishandling and retaining classified information included documents about military and foreign policy in Afghanistan and other countries. There were also other records related to national security and foreign policy, which Hur said implicated “sensitive intelligence sources and methods.”

Some of the items in question were stored in unsealed boxes in Biden’s garage where his son, Hunter Biden, had easy access.

Key Takeaways:

  • GOP leaders blindsided Joe Biden with a demand for evidence hidden by the DOJ.
  • Merrick Garland continued to dodge a congressional subpoena to protect his boss.
  • Republicans want materials from the investigation by Special Counsel Robert Hur.
