House Takes Big Step Towards Impeachment – Now the Sparks Are Flying in D.C.

House Republicans have long accused the Biden administration of failing to uphold its responsibilities. Along with accusing Joe Biden of various crimes, they have claimed his top officials have committed dereliction of their duties.

Perhaps the person top of their list (after the president) is Biden’s DHS chief Alejandro Mayorkas. They have long accused him of deliberately refusing to defend the border.

This week, Republicans filed articles of impeachment against the official. These articles were taken up by the House Homeland Security Committee. They just voted, deciding what will happen next.

From Just the News:
The GOP-led House Homeland Security Committee approved articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas early Wednesday after a marathon markup…

“…Secretary Mayorkas has willfully and systemically refused to comply with the laws enacted by Congress, and he has breached the public trust…”

The articles of impeachment against Mayorkas, which passed 18-15, deal with a “breach of trust” as well as a “willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law.”

The Republican-led House Homeland Security Committee voted to approve articles of impeachment against Mayorkas. Republicans accused the Biden official of breaching the public trust by refusing to comply with immigration law.

The measure was passed 18-15. Now, the issue will go to the full House for a vote. Should Republicans get enough votes, Mayorkas could face stiff repercussions for his actions.

Republicans and many other critics have long accused Mayorkas of the crisis on the border. He was the official who denied DHS and Border Patrol the ability to secure the border and deport illegal aliens.

Under Mayorkas, over 6 million migrants have entered the country illegally. Many of these migrants are released into the country without a court date. Mayorkas has flown them to all corners of the country, on taxpayer’s dime.

This vote could result in Mayorkas being removed from office, but his fate is still unclear. Meanwhile, the border crisis continues to rage, with no end in sight. As long as the Biden administration refuses to enact policies to shut the border down, millions of aliens will continue to enter.

Key Takeaways:

  • House Republicans voted to approve articles of impeachment against DHS head Mayorkas.
  • The articles will move to the House floor for a full vote.
  • Republicans have long blamed Mayorkas for the crisis on the border, where 6 million illegals entered the country.
