Trump Drops Gauntlet on President Biden – Demands He Release These “Hostages”

Donald Trump has been a frequent critic of President Biden. Since Biden entered office, Trump has regularly called out his decisions.

Trump is running for re-election and has vowed to remedy many of Biden’s controversial and unliked policies.

Recently, Trump called out Biden for one particular issue. Many Americans have been outraged over this. And now, Trump is demanding Biden release these “hostages.”

From The Post Millennial:
On Saturday, former President Donald Trump called on President Biden to release his supporters who have been unfairly targeted by the federal government for participating in the events that occurred during the Jan. 6 protest at the US Capitol in 2021.

“Release the J6 hostages, Joe!” Trump demanded, his voice rising. “Release them, Joe! You can do them real easy, Joe. This guy, what he’s done to people.”

Perhaps echoing calls for Hamas to release Israeli hostages, Donald Trump called on Biden to release the “J6 hostages.” Over 1,200 Americans have been arrested in connection to the events of January 6, 2021.

Many have criticized the Justice Department for seemingly hitting these American citizens with disproportionate charges and punishments. Most of those arrested have zero criminal histories. Yet they are facing years in jail for seemingly minor crimes. Many believe they are not guilty of anything at all.

Trump and other Republicans have heavily criticized Biden and the federal government for the treatment of these J6 defendants. Some have accused Democrats of retaliating against Trump supporters. Regardless, it seems odd that the federal government has expended so much time and resources prosecuting civilians when other pressing crises are hurting the country.

The former president called on Joe Biden to release these “hostages.” It is unclear why Trump believes these criminal defendants are hostages. Biden is not seeking ransom, nor has he kidnapped anyone.

But it is likely most of Trump’s supporters will agree with his sentiment. Though it is highly unlikely Biden will comply.

Key Takeaways:

  • Donald Trump told Joe Biden to release the January 6 “hostages.”
  • Biden’s DOJ has arrested over 1,200 people connected to January 6, 2021.
  • Some of those charged are facing years, if not decades, in jail.
