What’s Happening:
It’s safe to say that millions of Americans are ready to vote Joe Biden out of office. If Biden even makes it to the election, he will have to contend with tens of millions of voters who are eager to see a Republican back in the Oval Office.
But the question remains, who might that Republican be? All eyes have been on celebrated Gov. Ron DeSantis. The Republican scored an epic re-election victory last year. And conservative fundraisers and supporters think he has what it takes to trounce Biden. The man has yet to make any announcements. But according to some, he has already made up his mind.
From Fox News:
As Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis makes his first trip on Friday to Iowa — the state that leads off the GOP presidential nominating calendar — the Florida governor has reportedly told confidants that he intends to run for the White House in 2024…
On the eve of the trip, the Washington Post — citing two sources familiar with his comments — reported that DeSantis had described his plans to run for president without adding any caveats which would suggest he is still deciding on whether to launch a campaign.
This is very interesting. Gov. DeSantis has not announced a 2024 plan. But he’s been traveling across the country in recent days. He’s even heading over to Iowa, the very first GOP primary state. Why would a man go to Iowa, during this growing political season, unless he wanted to make his mark on voters?
Not only this, but according to certain sources, DeSantis has already told confidants of his plans to run for president. This is the first clear report that the governor has indicated his plans. Up until now, we’ve only had speculation and hints. But if these sources hold true, he’s already made up his mind about 2024.
DeSantis is a clear GOP frontrunner. While other states struggled in 2022, DeSantis won a landslide victory. He not only won re-election by over 1 million votes, but he helped turn a former swing state into a strong red state.
Democrats have all but given up on trying to flip Florida. Even Disney lost its battle against the conservative-run state. But can DeSantis ride this momentum into the White House? He seems to be floating that his success in Florida can be replicated across the country.
But voters will have to decide if he can make that happen. DeSantis will have to defeat a growing GOP field, including a former president, and take down the left’s corrupt election machine.
If he’s up for the challenge, we’ll find out soon enough.
Key Takeaways:
- Confidants revealed DeSantis plans to run for president in 2024.
- The Florida governor is also traveling to Iowa, an early primary state.
